Do I need a New Roof?
Here in South Louisiana, fierce storms and heavy rains are a guarantee at some point. Heavy rain and high wind storms such as a hurricane can cause significant roof damage. Your roof is an essential element to the overall structure of your home or business and any damages should not be put off or ignored. While the need for repairs are often visible to the eye, knowing if your roof should be fully replaced will likely require an inspection from a qualified roofing expert.
Signs Your Roof Should be Replaced
The need for a roof replacement is not solely limited to storm damage. Your roof takes on a lot of rain, wind, and sun exposure making it wear down over time. It is important to know how old your roof is as the lower end three-tab shingles will only last between 15 and 20 years. If your roof looks worn out and is older than 15 years, a replacement is likely a better plan than a repair. The older a roof is, the less sufficient repairs will be. Some other signs a roof replacement is necessary include:
-A large amount of cracked, torn, or missing shingles
-Your roof is covered in algae or moss
-Visible water damage (Be sure to inspect the attic and where the roof meets the exterior walls)
-Broken or damaged flashing
-Animals and pests in your home or business
